Hello I'm Nevan Schleuter, I am from the Saint Louis, Missouri area and I would love to help you with any of your voice acting needs! My areas of expertise include character and commercial work, but I am willing to work with any job you may need me to do. I do identify as a Gay and Non-Binary Male, preferring to go by He/They pronouns.
When I approach a character, I see an opportunity to take someone else’s creation and add the last touch of life into them. To me, the “acting” part of voice acting is what truly makes or breaks a role; it’s all about inhabiting the mind of a character and making it truly real. Personally, voice acting goes way beyond just playing a character. It allows me to truly bring a character to life, its providing a palpable figure to a creators vison. My ultimate goal is to take that complex images creators come up with and make them real for not only the minds that conjured them, but for any possible audience they will reach.
My earliest role was as a creature in a commercial haunt, where I quickly learned that there is more to a performance than saying the lines that are given to you. My directors required their actors to invent backstories for the characters they portrayed, to really approach them as if they were real. For me, this is what opened the door to the performing world. I was so enthralled with the creation of my character and the ways I could take on a new life through the character, it was the idea of providing life to an character that made me fall in love with this artform.
When I approach a role, I make sure to bring the very best. From the moment I audition until we have completed a project, I am working diligently to provide you with the highest quality recording. The process begins with any necessary research: how does a character live, what is their culture like, what have they experienced? Once I’ve gathered enough material, I craft it into a new headspace for me which allows me to fully embrace the role’s mindset. I believe that proper background work has to be done before an actor can truly become a character. From there, it’s a matter of turning all of that information into a credible, evocative performance. I stay in the booth until the actor becomes much less apparent in a recording and the character emerges.
